Launched in 2000, MEHTAP ELAIDI is a contemporary ready-to-wear brand offering timeless pieces to unapologetic ME women. Led by our namesake Founder and Creative Director Mehtap Elaidi, ME team caters to women in search of functional clothes with unique twists and quality fabrics. Well-known for our experimental cuts, expert tailoring, and unexpected design details, we favor quality and authenticity above all else.
Challenge: Currency Limitations & Localization Hurdles in a Global E-commerce Landscape
While Mehtap Elaidi had built a strong digital presence in Turkey through its Shopify store, the brand’s ambition to expand globally encountered a critical friction point: localization. With prices listed only in Turkish Lira, the shopping experience was neither intuitive nor accessible for international customers, creating both trust and usability barriers. It quickly became clear that a cloned Shopify site—customized for global markets with localized currency, language, and user experience—was essential. Only by overcoming this foundational hurdle could the brand unlock its growth potential on the international stage and begin building a truly borderless e-commerce presence.
Our Approach: Building a Seamless Global Shopping Experience
To address Mehtap Elaidi’s localization challenge and pave the way for global growth, we began by creating a cloned Shopify store dedicated to international audiences. This allowed us to display prices in USD and tailor the overall shopping experience to meet global expectations. We restructured the brand’s CRM by segmenting it into “Turkey” and “Rest of the World,” enabling more targeted and efficient email marketing campaigns.
To enhance the checkout experience, we integrated international shipping options and region-specific rates, ensuring a localized and trustworthy transaction process. Using the GeoIP Country Redirect app, we directed visitors to the correct storefront based on their location, while Relative Redirect functionality ensured that users landed on the exact page (product, collection, blog, etc.) across both stores. This setup, proven in previous projects, contributed to stronger ad performance and reduced bounce rates.
Additionally, we established real-time synchronization of product data, inventory, and collections between the two stores, significantly reducing operational workload and time costs for the internal team.
